By hand! As in, I don't have a machine to do the dough.
Do you have:
- a recipe?
- any tips or tricks for making on large scale
- do you think I can make in advance or just spend hours on the day of?
And before you ask, no there is absolutely nowhere I can order from in a driving distance.
Thank you!

Can you buy a donut maker like this one?

This way you don't have to stand there flipping them and making sure that your oil doesn't burn.

Do you have a Walmart or the like near you?
Buy rhodes dinner rolls. Defrost per package instructions and fry (same day).
Fill or sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Enjoy homemade taste with minimal mess!

I second Rhodes dough- they taste delicious.
Let the balls rise for about 4 hours and then fry.

Was going to say this.
The dough is about $4.85 for 36 balls. You need to defrost fully. Like 4 hrs. They fry like a dream and taste delicious.
Fill 2 large pots with oil and fry away.
(I have 4 bags in my freezer for Chanukah)

For Rhodes, do you poke a hole in the middle? Also, is it round shaped?

It’s round. I don’t make holes. You can fill them.
It’s the best donut hack.

Amazon has Baker's Choice Doughnut Raspberry Jelly, and doughnut fillers, meaning injectors, if you want to put jelly in them.

I don’t poke a whole.
Just drop round ball into oil.
When I defrost I spray pan on parchment paper underneath and cover with pam and then plastic so it doesn’t stick when defrosting.
We dust with powdered sugar or ice with glaze and sprinkles .
Can fill with jelly, custard or caramel.

I.love the Rhodes rolls idea! I actually have a bag of them in my freezer. Just curious, do you not have to make hamotzi on them? Does frying them change it to mezonos?

Thank you all! Rhodes dough sounds amazing, but I don't have access to any Walmart or somewhere that I'd find Rhodes dough, or Amazon either. Regarding doughnut machine I could technically try and find one here although I do want to fry them! Seems like I ain't got no tricks

Yes, frying makes it mezonos. From the answer here, it seems it depends how deep the oil is; light frying vs deep frying may mean the difference between pas haba b'kisnin vs true mezonos.
