I think they made it with a mix of Farina and wheatena? I don't know how its called.

Nowadays we do the regular Farina recipe but add a tablespoon of cream cheese to each serving. Now that's good!

Thanks loads.

Question: the direction says to "cook on low heat" and then it says "lower the heat". This looks like a typo to me. Can you please clarify?

You can definitely play around. I don’t always have the oats and add more wheatena or farina

I make this recipe using only farina. Like I swap out the oat bran and wheatena for more farina and it tastes delicious

4 cups milk
1/2 cup farina
1/4 cup oat bran
1/4 cup sugar
1 Tablespoon vanilla sugar
1 Tablespoon butter

Put everything together in pot, keep mixing as it cooks on medium flame, until boils. Immediately when it boils, lower flame, simmer until thicken, close flame and blend. The slower it cooks, the better the taste.
Top individual servings with favorite choice of topping.

INGREDIENTS:
6 cups whole milk
4 Tbsp. butter
½ cup farina
14 cup oat bran
1 Tbsp. Wheatena
Sugar to taste
Pinch salt
Pinch vanilla sugar

Topping suggestions:
½ tsp. cocoa mixed with 3 Tosp. sugar
Cinnamon
Chocolate syrup

HEALTH NOTE:
Farina is an iron-enriched food, and a
single serving contains almost the entire FDA recommended daily requirement of iron. Iron is the mineral responsible for the prevention of anemia, which affects many women in childbearing years. The farina served daily to the recuperating mothers at Aishes Chayil has gained
universal acclaim. We offer it daily
because iron is especially recommended
for post-partum mothers.

INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Combine milk, butter, farina, oat bran, Wheatena, sugar, salt, and vanilla sugar in a 4-quart saucepan over low heat. Keep mixing as you gently bring it to a boil. Once it begins to boil, immediately lower heat and let simmer until thickened (the slower
it cooks, the better it will taste). 2. Top individual servings with your choice
of topping.
4 servings
