Op I feel you!
The issue is that most people have the bacteria in their gut that causes pinworms. But they don't come out only some people are prone to an overgrowth and them coming out to torture the person.

One of that is my 9.5 yo daughter.

We tried EVERYTHING except mebendazole becuase she has an extreme sensitive tummy and with all the side effects Iisted....
She's also the unlucky type to usually get all side effects from any medication she takes. Also, it won't prevent t a reinfection so we decided against it.
And koyalic. I had a crazy experience with that. But koyalic on a dialy basis is definitely a cure.

Recently someone I work with told me this trick.
Peel and boil around 6-8 garlic. Let it boil a just a few min. Pour it into the bath and soak in that bath water.
Wash linen on hot that day. Do the same the next day and the next. For at least 4 nights in a row.
So far it's been 4 weeks and it's all gone.....
If it comes back too soon, do it again for a week.
For the first two nights, If the pinworms are bothering them, put Vaseline and insert the narrowest/smallest piece of the head.

Garlic doesn't put the pinworms to sleep. That's what reeses pinworm meds do. Jt paralyzes it for 24 hours, so that when you poop, you get rid of it. So constipated people need to take it 2-3 days in a row and then 10 days - 2 weeks late again.

They do not like the smell of garlic so they run away. Also, enough garlic will def kill them.

I can never forget the time when my now 11 yo was 3 and I gave my kid koyalic and put her to bed, only to be woken at midnight with her whimpering and thrashing on the floor. She wasn't coherent or verbal she was in such hysterics. I pulled off her pull up and there were pinworms EVERYWHERE!!! I had to pick them out of her private (excute the tmi) she was in such pain it was horrible!!!! I guess they were running away from the garlic and came out in the pull-up. It was running down her legs. Omg was so so so bad.
I started yelling. Dh came running. I gave her a sugar bath. Then cleaned her up, put her in my bed. Then I spent 2 hours cleaning and disinfecting her room. Had to send the rug in to get professionally cleaned.
I never ever gave that again to any of my kids ever. 🤣

For one of my kids regular meds wasn’t enough ! We went through what you did , for years, until one Dr prescribed me something sorry I don’t remember what, it was a stronger med, she took it for months ! And bh it went away ! Please ask Dr again or go somewhere else. Also please don’t drive yourself crazy with washing linens and things because it doesn’t help anyway

Try it. You have to be consistent for a few weeks. I wasn't very but it worked anyway. It was loosing it. I felt like being admitted to Bellevue. I tried every prescription and otc medication. Nothing worked. Garlic I learned puts them to sleep. The second you stop a few days later they're back. Pindrops is what literally saved my sanity for more than 1 kid. Did you hear of Mrs. Apter in monsey? That's her company. Her company has great products.

Can you send Mrs apter number ?

I was one of those kids who was very prone to pinworms. Unfortunately I am still prone to pinworms. A few things I have learned which may be obvious so ignore them if they are- #1- I try to wash anything I can on hot all the time- linen and undergarments and whichever clothing I can
#2 eat pumpkin seeds as much as you can- snack on some every day- I can't remember the reason but worms don't like thm or something #3 I haven't had access to vermox recently but from what I remember it works better and just not as easily available but I think you can order it from pharmacies online or find someone from canada to bring it #4 I have been embarrassed so I haven't asked my doctor but when I called my kids pediatrician and asked that I think my kid has it again and meds not working they said try again and if not come in because there are other things- so I would hope there is a stronger medicine. Pinworms is not quality of life. I would tell my pediatrician in no uncertain terms that my child is suffering and this is not okay and he needs to be followed very closely on this. It is embarrassing, extremely uncomfortable, and affects so many areas. #5 someone posted on here about diamataceous earth- that they know the brand and amounts and stuff and can reach out to them- bH I did not need to but I would try that as well. #6 you mentioned keeping nails short- I would also avoid sand, try to have him wash hands with soap and possibly use a nail brush when he gets home from school, and he shouldn't put his fingers in nose/ mouth if he can help it. Hatzlacha!! this is so so hard. You're a great mom and your son must be a great kid if he's able to remain sane through this

My son is 9.5. This has been going on since he was 2.5. We have tried literally everything. He is the only one of my kids to have this. It comes and goes but always comes back. I do the meds, I do it two days in a row and then again a week and two weeks later. All different configurations none helped. I’m meticulous about keeping his nails short. Linens always are washed once a week in hot water. And when he has an active case every day for a few days. He works very hard to washed his hands often. I do meds, alternative herbal stuff I worked on and continue to work on his gut health. I’m just at my wits end. So Is he. He came to tell me that they are back and he was devastated. I need chizuk

Have you tried the garlic suppositories ?

My sincere sympathies, as a mom who struggled with one kid for years too!!!
Have you gotten the prescription meds, or just the OTC Reese’s? We got a prescription for mebendazole from a Canadian online pharmacy and I found it worked WAY better.

I'm at my wits end and we had it for 8 months only! Mebendazole is the regular non prescription drug for us in Australia and we are all resistant to that. It destroys your gut and energy levels and does nothing if taken repeatedly.

You do realize that sugar and aspirin candies and cool-aid and the like contribute to them getting this, do you?
