Took my kids for well-visits and they were barely touched or looked at. Everything was mostly questions about development etc. Drs used to check stomach, privates, etc. Is this standard practice that it’s not done anymore? Or did I just see the wrong Dr?

My doctor always checks.
What’s the point of a well visit if not?

All the pediatricians we’ve seen examine the kids at well visits. We’re in a practice with multiple providers and rarely see the same provider… so we’ve seen a lot of different providers over the last couple years since we joined the practice

(But we we lived in Israel the kids never had well visits, period. 🙊)

Isn’t it important? I don’t know what to look out for if things aren’t looking right. That’s why I’d like to rely on well-visits.

My thoughts exactly. At the time we were going discussing many issues so I didn’t have the headspace to ask why they’re not doing an exam. Seems weird that I need to ask, but this practice is supposed to be great so I’m disappointed.

Maybe the doctor was distracted by all the discussion and forgot that he didn’t do the actual exam

Hopefully that’s it, because it do remember them checking at the last well-visit. I’m going to reach out and ask about it.

Yeah here they don’t do well visits so my kids haven’t seen a dr since age 2 when they got their last shot because they haven’t really gotten sick.

My kids of various ages all had physicals recently and while there were more questions and talking, they were all physically examined.

Interesting.
A few weeks ago there was a thread about a mother being horrified that the Dr check a pre teens privates.
(By the way a doctor should be checking if not once a year, once every two years in teens and preteens)

When I lived there, I would schedule well visits for them where they were actually examined.
Just bec you dnt need the form, doesn't mean you can't schedule a visit with your pediatrician Smile

This.

My newborn wasn't weighed at the first visit. Can't Believe It
I was like what was the point of the visit?! (Dh was the one who took him)
