I’ve been using g a cleaning lady for years who is excellent and very reliable. Spanish speaking. She brings help sometimes (always family members like a niece or nephew). One day I found one of my rings on the grass outside my home. It wasn’t in an area my kids could reach and they don’t do that regardless. I let was the day after she came. And r was found near where she parks. I can’t think of any possible explanation aside from one of her helpers having stole it and accidentally dropped it. I do t think the main cleaning lady would’ve done it as she’s largely employed by the frum community here and knows so many of us. I never confronted her about it and found a couple other replacements who aren’t half as good. Initially I felt like I couldn’t have a conversation about it; it was just time to move on but no one compares to her! Would you have a conversation? It’s even harder since it’s her family members that I think did it. Also it’s hard because what if I’m actually wrong? Thoughts?

Why was it necessary to indicate her ethnicity? Do you think Spanish -speaking people are less honest than those who speak English?

You can't be sure who took it. My neighbor once accused another neighbor's kid of stealing a valuable item. Similarly, she found it on the ground outside the building. Turns out the kid did take it--but the kid was maybe 5 years old, the item was lying around in the open, and she swiped it because it had pretty sparkles. She had no idea of its value, or that things even have value, and while she shouldn't have taken it, of course, neither should the neighbor have left it lying around where a small child could access it and covet it.

And, no, the child did not grow up to be a thief but a highly respectable member of the community.

You can dance around the issue and just tell her not to bring famil/friends with her to help.
Or you can ask her what she thinks about the ring you found outside.

Do you have an in-home camera system?

Just for my own peace of mind I wouldn't be able to continue employing someone in my home and around my kids if I wasn't 100% trusting of their character

this kind of response makes me not want to post here anymore. nothing I said indicated me thinking spanish speaking people are less honest. I was alluding to communication barriers. it's an uncomfortable conversation to have without any communication difficulties, even more so with.

My mother never allowed employees to bring anyone else into the home.

When the lady who works for me recommended someone else to come work for me on Fridays (a day she herself wasn't available), she offered to spend the first day with the new gal for training, but it made me uncomfortable.
