My daughter is refusing to apply to any by bc she doesn’t feel comfortable w not having her phone which I understand.( I also don’t love the bais yaakov hashkafa w the whole girls can’t wear their hair down thing. ) issue is I can’t find any sems she wants to go to that aren’t MO and teach Gemara which I’m not so comfortable with. Darchei Dinah would’ve been a perfect fit but now it’s a by
She’s a solid frum girl with solid hashkafos just not yeshivish.
She can be academic if she wants to
Any ideas?

Not going to get in to the seminary thing but I don’t think it’s healthy that she is too afraid to be without a smart phone for a few months. She’s already addicted at 17?

Michlala is kind of a cross over school. Some girls marry black hat afterwards and it definitely does not teach Gemara

Strongly considering Michlala but are there any other options? It’s so crazy how every other day there is a new yeshivish sem opening but we have barely any good middle of the road options.
My other q is what kind of girls attend these middle of road sems? Is it usually girls who wanna party, have bfs etc Bec that’s not at all what my daughter wants

So we spoke abt Michlala. I thinks it’s too big for her. Anyone have a daughter there rn? Would like to apply there but wanna know if Theres any other places out there for her.
I’m really sad abt darchei binah would’ve been perfect for her. It’s crazy how every other day there are yeshivish sems opening up but there’s like 2 middle of road options

All sems allow phones with calling and some even allow texting.
If she NEEDS more than that there is an issue that you should work on. For life. For dating. For marriage. For her husband. For her kids.

Idk if I agree with this. There is nothing wrong with my daughter not wanting a dumb phone for a year. Bais yaakov isn’t my family’s hashkafa and I understand where she is coming from. I personally don’t even think I’d feel comfortable with her at a bais yaakov

It has nothing to do with hashkafa. It has to do with the attachment/addiction.
A 17 year old shouldn't be SO attached to a smart phone that she can't give it up for a few months. And if that's the only reason she's saying no to a seminary then you have to wonder why.
In NYC there was a petition to ban smart phones in public schools. There are articles galor of big C level employers and employees switching to, or working towards switching to dumb phone. Even non-Jews are waking up and realizing the value of dumb phones and how harmful smartphones are

There are options between BY and smartphone and if she's in a non-BY school they should have that info for you
