without going into details of which diet I was doing, I did a diet before YT and B'H lost a few pounds....
each week I lost about a pound and I did this for about a month...
After YT, I gained 3 pounds, which is normal, I think....
but for the last four weeks, I followed the same exact diet as I did before YT but NOTHING! I can't get those 3 pounds to budge, AND I am not losing the additional weight I wanted to...
so now I am three pounds more than before YT and I have been following the same diet for 4 weeks!!
any insight?

The beginning is usually losing water weight, I’d recommend sticking to it for six months, before assessing results.

Thanks for your reply!
So I should just continue and not focus that I didn't lose weight in four weeks?
And I gained back the three pounds I lost in the month before YT....
I am also doing a lot of exercise....about a half an hour of dance per night, plus about 45 minutes of cycling daily plus 30 minutes of walking daily....

Were you exercising before yomtov too? Exercising will mean you'll retain water initially but you will burn more calories in the long run.
Also write down everything you eat, that can really help.
Hatzlocha, it's not easy!

You’re building muscle so weight is not going down but you should be losing inches

Without knowing anything about you specifically, generally speaking if the body feels like it's under too much stress, it secretes more stress hormones which block weight loss. For some people, exercising too much or too intensely can be experienced as stress for the body and would make it more difficult to lose weight.

She's doing cardio so I don't think she's gaining much muscle.

Correct, 1st its water weight. Plus inflammation can go up & down. Women also have our cycles as a variable so hunger & macro needs cycle with it.

If only time for one, strength training is far superior to get into better shape (especially as we age).

Thank you everyone for your replies!
I do the types of exercise I really enjoy doing and can fit easily into my day as I figure it's better to do that more consistently than force myself to do exercise I really don't enjoy...
I enjoy walking with my baby in the stroller after I pick him up from playgroup so that's like a half an hr walk and I have a recumbent bike I use when I do computer work etc. I time myself so it's accurate...
I also dance (fast ballet) every night for half an hour...
I did exercise before YT but I definitely upped it as I put on about five pounds since last year and I would love to get rid of them!!
if anyone has any ideas how I can sneak in strength training that doesn't involve floor work (I hate floor work!) I would love to hear!! I also have pelvic floor issues so lifting heavy things like weights aren't good for me....
I am eating less calories now than before YT...I keep track of my daily calories on nutritionix...
so I am not sure why I'm not shaking the pounds, even the recent YT pounds!!
Thanks so much!

Losing weight isn't simple for women-stress, sleep, hormones play a huge role. Lifetime dieting also effects a person. What kind of diet are you on, what's the macros etc. how's your emotional health? There's a lot that goes into it.
Also, please work on fixing your pelvic floor asap!

emotional health is great B'H Smile I'm a happy, positive, creative person and love my job
I sleep 7 hours a night (more on Shabbos)
And this diet worked for me (until now!) I lost all my baby weight but then gained back some over the summer when we were on vacay and I was eating way more, plus YT weight...
so odd that nothing technically changed since a few weeks ago..
the only thing I can think of is that I was nursing my baby around 3 times a day, and I still am (three times a day) but maybe he is eating more solids now, so I'm giving him less and burning less calories that way? obviously I have no way of measuring how much I am giving him (I'm not going to pump at this point...)
I'm eating around 10,750 calories per week....I'll go lower if I have to but I was eating 11,100 weekly before YT and lost weight on that, consistently one pound per week......

No advice, but I some medical event really killed my metabolism last year. And I've been consistently hungry, and consistently gaining over the last year.

I started taking greens in capsule form and thyroid support vitamins and that has really helped me regulate my hunger cues and make better food choices. I also try to each low carb high fiber as much as naturally possible. I'm not eating those low carb processed cookies or food and when I do eat carbs, it's sort of wholesome becuase its and homemade with basic ingredients. And very much one piece. Or max 2 then walk away.
I've also started working out floor exersizes, stretching and strength building.
I'm feeling so much better and only loosing 1 lb per week since yom tov. I see that even more than the 4 or so lbs I lost it see on my clothes that they fit nicer.
But I think it's actually healthier this way.

I'm 181, I need to go down to 150 at least. Preferable 140.
