Does anyone what I can do if the DOE is saying that they did not receive the letter of intent by June 1st for one of my children? I have an email address but no one responded.

It is so crazy this new thing. I need services for my daughter. I just had a doe meeting last week. Normally she would be able to start services right away.. but since this paper wasn't signed in June... She can't get anything....
Makes no sense

So basically if they didn't receive the letter of intent by June 1st, than there is no way that the child can receive services?? That's crazy...is there an appeals process?

They're saying that people who didn't send the letter by June 1st will still get services but it will be after they finish covering the June 1st cases, whatever that means. Submit the letter right now and keep an email trail so you at least have something. Also reach out to the special ed Dept at Agudath Israel, they are fielding a lot of this and I wonder if they have any kind of group deal in the works.

Had you sent in letter prior to June 1?
If you did forward it to boe. As proof sent on time Send to any emails you have on file even if not correct district one person willbe noce enough to forward it to correct party. If you have a school contact or therapist from past ask them for email addresses they suggest you contact.
It took time but bh I got all of mine

I did not submit by June 1st, as I did not know about it. It was never required before.

Was your provider working through a lawyer for enhanced or pendency? If so the lawyers put in complaint to boe not to directly contact their client aka parents. That's why you wouldn't have received in mail

My provider also does not do enhanced, and my child has been getting services for years using this same provider and I never had any issue. We were never informed that the letter of intent needs to be submitted, let alone by June 1st! Its really frustrating that now we all have to file for impartial hearings and the DOE is going to fight us tooth and nail all the way to deny services. The amount of money that they are spending to fight us on this issue, could cover all the services and then some! Such a waste of taxpayer money....

Agencies used to take care of a lot of this but lets all hate on them because they were making money

This form came every year and was required by June 1st . Perhaps it wasn’t enforced but this is not a new thing . The bold letters always indicated it should be returned by June 1st or you won’t receive services .

...I have been getting it in mail yearly for almost 15 yrs. It says clearly must be sent in or won't receive services.
Never allow agencies to take control of your children's services without your knowledge all mail should come to you.
As frustrating as boe is being after what all the agencies and many therapist have been doing its not unexpected...

What exactly have therapists been doing? I will call out every post that dares to blame therapists. All I've been doing is working like a dog, doing 12+ sessions a day (plus extra at nights and on sundays), spending nights and weekends and hours and hours of my own unpaid time preparing for sessions, doing ridiculous billing paperwork, and dealing with endless calls and texts from 25+ parents
All for a pathetic hourly rate that never gets raised. And with no payment for student absences or holidays, my annual school year pay comes out less than a morah who works way less hours than me.
I'm not saying agencies don't pull shtick, I don't really know the behind the scenes. But don't blame the poor therapists who get the short end of the stick no matter what but somehow get a lot of blame.
