I'm curious to hear how many imas make the same thing every week and how many change it up. Personally, I like to change up the salads, dips, and desserts, but keep things like challah, chicken soup, salmon, chicken, and cholent the same.

How about you?

I always make chicken soup, chicken, rice, gefilte fish, and cholent. Any other things are extra and I switch up.

But then there are times I do completely different like if dh wants to make some meat or if I am sick of chicken.

We get bored of same foods. Make different soups, mains, and sides. Salads and dips are generally same.

We are chassidish for reference, so have a traditional menu that we stick to. Here and there we switch up with different dips or compote, or an extra kugel if Rosh Chodesh is on shabbos. but otherwise the meal is the same and predictable each week.

Never the same. Sometimes lentil
Soup, sometimes pea soup, sometimes chicken or vegetable. Sometimes chicken on the bone sometimes off. Sometimes a roast sometimes meatballs. 3 sides are never the same. Dessert never the same. I’d be bored cooking and eating the same food

We have special steak at night, it's something the kids really look forward to. We also have created another tradition of a meat board with homemade chicken and meat during the day, which also makes things special.
We enjoy the family time together as we enjoy our food. Small family and this makes things special for us.

I like the consistency of traditional foods. We switch up the dips and occasionally make a fancier salad, and if it’s Rosh Chodesh or an extra Sefer Torah then I’ll add apple or Lukshen kugel, but again, all predictable foods.

It’s the one thing I have down pat and don’t have to rack my brains to make everyone happy!!

Probably the only thing that's 100% constant is the challah (but switch up the types) and gefilte fish - that I make exactly the same every week for my picky kids. Everything else depends on my mood Wednesday night when making my menu! Eg soup and chicken Friday night, cholent Shabbos day - all subject to change. Dips totally random. Salads I buy different vegetables and either roast some before or make something up on Shabbos. Gotta keep things interesting for me as the chef too!

We change it up every week.
Because DH is vegetarian, unless we’re having guests we don’t have fleishigs in Shabbos, and roasted vegetables every week is boring.

We try to vary the dips because otherwise we get bored. If we’re home Friday night I make some kind of soup (veggie, orange, curry) and some kind of green salad, sometimes a starch like rice or potatoes.

In the day we’ll have some kind of veggie main and normally I do a soup in the crockpot (mushroom barley, split pea, chili). I’ve also made veggie kibbe, spinach pie, and other more exotic fares when we need a total mix up.

We eat seasonally so the vegetable side dishes change constantly.
We also get bored of eating the same thing for too many week in a row.
Soup only in the winter.
Cholent - maybe 2-3 times a year
The most consistent thing is shnitzel for shabbat lunch. But that's never the only main. I always have a second item - grilled pargit, or pulled beef, or London broil, or something else.
Food also depends on the guests. If we're having a family with small children I'll make more kid friendly food.

The thing that stays the same is the menu, what changes is the flavor.
Challa-sometimes regular sometimes sourdough (always homemade)
Fish- anything from cooked salmon to Moroccan fish made with tilapia
Dips and salads- a variety each week
Chicken soup- always the same
Meat- whatever I was in the mood for that week
Kugel- sometimes potato sometimes veggie or onion
Apple crumble- sometimes plain old, sometimes cherry or blueberry added
Morning- eggs and chulent always the same

Yes and no.
The basics are challah, fruit salad, soup, chicken, and a starchy side dish. Fruit salad is based on whatever is available and exact composition varies from week to week. Soup has a chicken and veggie base but can include many other ingredients, again based on availability, such as other soups, cholent, noodles, rice, barley and so on. The side dish can be kugel, pilaf, baked potatoes or sweet potatoes, etc. Salad is based on Israeli salad, iow veggies cut up very small, but ingredients depend on availability. Sometimes we have more than one veggie dish, always based on availability, and that can be babaganush, cooked beets, shredded carrot salad, coleslaw, caramelized onions, whatever. We don't usually have dessert unless we have company, but we usually have tea. We have an assortment of herbal and black teas.
