Maybe it's supposed to be artsy?

It reminds me a little of the Abercrombie & Fitch advertising from the early aughts.

Honestly I have no problem with adult Americans living their own private life how they want to. As long as they’re not hurting anyone and it’s concential, not my business. But NOT MY BUSINESS means don’t shove it in my face. I don’t have 3ex with my husband on the street or post pics of me snuggling. Why do liberals think it’s not enough to be happy, they need every person in the world to see their s-xuality and applaud? Disgusting.

Not reading past page 1 but if I shopped there I would research & write to their president that they have lost my business.

No time to look up the quote but something like "all it takes for evil to flourish is for good people (k men but being slightly PC) to be silent and do nothing"

I emailed them about it.

Maybe if people make enough noise, they'll take it into account when preparing their next display.

No because they literally responded to me that they were being inclusive:

“Our goal in this campaign is to create A joyful inclusive celebration that resonates with a diverse audience…”

Well please write them back that being "inclusive" ALSO means not offending old fashioned non-woke people who don't need your agenda shoved in their faces. And also mention that many of your friends will not be shopping there. Because that's where it may (hopefully) make an impression.

"that resonates with a diverse audience that is not diverse enough to include you."

Then they can do regular commercial photography depicting whomever and whatever they are trying to be inclusive of. This isn't that, it's off putting in other ways.

I decided I'll reach out to H & M as well. I chatted back and forth with ChatGPT until I got a draft that looked normal. Feel free to do the same; just don't send the exact same email.

Subject: Customer Feedback on Website Content

Dear H&M Customer Service Team,

I am writing to express some concerns regarding recent content featured on your website that includes romantic displays. While I appreciate H&M’s commitment to inclusivity, I and several others I’ve spoken with find this focus on romance during shopping both unnecessary and, in many cases, uncomfortable.

Inclusivity is indeed essential, and I fully support the use of models who represent a diverse range of shapes, sizes, races, and ethnic backgrounds. However, I believe that diversity and representation can be meaningfully achieved without the use of romantic displays, which may alienate customers who prefer a more neutral shopping experience.

I hope you will consider feedback from customers like myself, who enjoy H&M for its quality clothing and want to feel comfortable shopping on the site. Thank you for your attention to this perspective.

Sincerely,
[Your Full Name]

I just don’t understand is this the first time you’ve seen a clothing store focus on romance in their marketing?
It’s literally nothing new. Not even ‘new age’. I remember as a teenager seeing images like this on large screens in the stores.

If what bothers you is that it’s two girls…. Then really nothing you can do about that.

I have been shopping online for many years. I never had to see a short video clip of a couple being all touchy-feely before looking the the clothing on the site. Never. I saw couples holding hands or having an arm around the other but that's it. This is a whole new level.

Here's the response I got:

Thank you for your feedback. While I understand your concerns, we have promotional material and banners that will showcase different types of people, lifestyles, aesthetics and style choices. I understand that that specific one may have not been for you, but can be empowering for another. As far as we can see, no inappropriate imagery is being used.

We again thank you for sharing your opinion and will of course always look to grow and improve how present our brand.

I must be too desensitised. It didn't offend me. But I hear why others don't like it.

IMO, I think the phrase "romantic displays" sounds weird.

Other than that, I thought the letter is very good!

What has the world come to?!
If this is not inappropriate imagery, what is?

Why do banners need to "showcase" every aspect of these different lifestyles? They can show two women together (or a heterosxual couple for that matter) without having them engage so intimately in front of our eyeballs when we just want to shop for a blouse.

That's the problem with wokeism.
Why do we need to know that the Biden press secretary is the first black l-sbian to hold the title? Why are they touting her s-xual identity instead of her qualifications necessary for the job.
Why is it even public knowledge?
What goes on in the bedroom should stay in the bedroom.
I think most of us wouldn't be so anti the LGBQTQ movement if it wouldn't be shoved in our faces all the time.

I just got an email from Next. Such normal images, that actual showcase the clothes, not some agenda. No second guessing what gender the model is. I think we should send letters to companies like Next telling them we appreciate their advertising and photoshoots. An ounce of prevention....
