turning on. what could it be? I don't see anything stuck in the bottom. I unscrewed it and it doesn't make the sound right when you turn it on, only after a minute? It's an upright vacuum.

Can you take apart the stick? Sometimes something is stuck in it
Also try opening it and cleaning the part full of dust

I would recommend that you google troubleshooting your vacuum model name and number. You can usually find the appropriate help that way.
