If you recently married off your child how much did the wedding cost?
Also where was the wedding and what is the breakdown?
I would like to know the entire total, including the wedding night, setting up the apartment, Sheva brochos and gifts. Everything

Actually she is correct unfortunatly. A family member is marrying off a child, bare bones wedding (by chassidish standard) and he told me it is costing home 100k. Insanity

My parents don't make weddings that cost more than $60K.
My in laws don't make for less then $100K....
OP, make a wedding within your budget, regardless of what others do. But for $60K, you can have a regular beautiful wedding.

Then it's absolutely not a bare bones wedding. You can definitely make a nice wedding for $60K. If their wedding is $100K , it's not bare bones.

Yes, it is. Wedding is in a tekunah hall, lots of stuff second hand. I agree the standard is insane. Why do couples need italian furniture?? They can get beautiful sets at ikea. When they can afford it they can buy, id they want. Why do they need high end dishes? Its insane.

Mine was also in the 100K range Nothing extravagant or or out of the ordinary. Got bedroom set and chest and dinette set on Wayfair. No dining room furniture. Tried being very careful. The shaitels were probably our biggest expense, besides the wedding night.

Because they need to be very balabatish and have a lot of social pressures to keep up with the joneses. Local stores and vendors feed into this mentality and do very well because of it
