I don't get why sheitels are so much. They are shorter and not lace tops I'm assuming. So what is the big cost for sheitels in the chassidish community, assuming you don't have blond or red hair?

Whoever said $3500 each side in Monroe...can litvish people get married there? Lol. That sounds great.
I still don't understand why weddings are costing 100k plus, can someone explain? I had 200 ppl almost 10 years ago for 25k in the Atrium and that included band, photographer, etc. fine so now that might be 35k but that still is MUCH less than 100k!!

The 100k includes so much more than just the wedding.

Did you have loads of people at the dinner?
55k for a takana wedding?! Insane. |
The number is in $, it was about 42 in Ā£.
It wasn't a big wedding at all. I think 120 couples.
The halls went up significantly since the last wedding my family had, same takana hall.
It includes some flights for my siblings that live in Israel. As well as engagement (small, in my house), gifts, my wardrobe, setting up my home (linens, dishes, appliances etc) and gowns for 2 sisters. Hair and makeup for married siblings as well. Shadchan, kallah classes, wigs. Think that's it!
ETA includes rent for the first few weeks till we moved to Israel as well as our flights to Israel.
My gown was from a gemach btw, only paid cleaning fee.

125 couples is included in the price.

Iām not chassidish and I am making a wedding in Brooklyn next month.
Itās at least $350 for the kallah for hair and $350 for makeup. I hired for my girls some newer people who do it for around $50.
And those are not the highest numbers are at all.
if you have six girls and a daughter in law and yourself and your mother and shvigger, you are definitely looking at 2K for hair and makeup and probably even more.
