My house is 100 yrs old. We've lived in it almost a decade.
The past few years the tub gets into funks where it begins to drain slowly. We put up with it for a few months until it's so bad that you're showering in the previous person's shower- 4 inches still not drained... Then call a plumber who usually snakes it and it's a fix for another 8 months or so ...
What is a better long-term fix?
New pipes?
We have a hair catcher, but for sure little hairs after boys haircuts go down. Is the issue that we use bar soap and it's clogging?

Thanks!
Do you think that could really be the issue?
Next question - why does my plastic lining shower curtain get mildewy?

Unless your cleaning it after every shower, it’s a breeding ground for mold
I clean often and replace often

Mildew will grow if the liner isn’t drying properly and the bathroom isn’t ventilated well. You could replace the liner every few months, or clean it.

I try and do a monthly rinse for the plughole using 1/2 cup of both baking soda and vinegar, leave it for around 10 minutes, then thoroughly wash it down as it's corosive. It really helps dissolve the gunk that builds up.
For the bathroom curtain, put it on the outside of the tub and make sure your room is well ventilated.

Thanks all!
Bathroom has no window unfortunately and only a ceiling vent fan thing. I can't say every family member turns on fan when they shower, but most do, I think.
If I got more makpid on that, dyou think it would help?
