DD will be going into 12th grade, wants to work at a "really fun American summer camp" this summer (ideally first half). Her friends all tell her that American camps don't really want Israeli girls as staff unless they have connections.
Oh, and my daughter would like to make money if possible...
Any place you can recommend as a great place for incoming-12th graders to work, one that doesn't require being the head counselor's second cousin to get into?

My daughter was in this position a few years ago. Don't think any camps pay at that age, if anything she'll need to pay a few hundred dollars. The only option for her was specialty. She went to Agudah of Toronto and had a good time. She may have had one or two other options but they were too expensive.

Camps pay little to none for sleep away and and in the hundreds for day camp.
First half is harder than second half
Most sleeo away camps are hiring their campers at that age. But sime newer onea might not be.

Do you mean it's harder to find a job?
Or the work itself is harder?

My daughter is your daughter's age and I hope she actually gets into the camp she went to for the past two years as a camper (and I sure hope they put their own campers ahead of those who didn't pay to attend, no offense), and I expect to pay up to about 1K for the privilege. I don't know of any camps that pay such young staff.

It's often harder to get in for first half, because many more girls want to go first half (right away when school ends).

At that age, you still need to pay to work. Most camps charge for the honor of working for them. They figure that they’re still giving room and board.
In Lakewood, there have been many out of town girls come and work in day care centers over the summer.
They pay really nicely per hour and it adds up quickly.
However, she would need a place to dorm, way to get around and it won’t be much fun unless she works with friends.

Sternberg is her best option and she won't have to pay but she won't be paid.

Definitely not BY type, but bnei akiva camps actively want and look for Israeli staff if she is open to that.
