I had a delicious Yerushalmi kugel over YT that wasn't too sweet and on the more peppery side. It also helped that it was served warm.
Hoping to recreate it but I've never had success making it before, especially with the caramelizing step. The one time I did it, the oil and sugar hardened when I mixed them into the noodles.
I'd appreciate a tried and tested recipe (for dummies) and any tips as well. Thank you!

I usually put it over the flame a bit after putting the noodles in while stirring constantly.
