Cameras in bathroom

My son just started school ( kindergarten), by orientation I took him to the bathroom and noticed that the bathroom stalls have a camera in each one ; directly aiming at the toilet . Im wondering if this is normal... Definitely not the way I grew up but I'm just checking if other schools have something similar and if this is the new norm.( Skl is in Lakewood)

The biggest red flag here is the fact that they didn’t tell parents about it. No matter how valid the reason is to have it, it’s all out the window if you aren’t telling parents there are cameras in the bathrooms!

Absolutely not okay at all! Camera's should be in the sink area.

Very bad sign.
Cameras should be in the washing areas/in the main area before the private stalls. Nothing within the stall should be visible.
This is an opening for anyone to look when they shouldn't.

My son told me that they have it at the mikva, so I guess that’s the same thing.

This became commonplace to be able to check in the case of suspected s-xual assault/ abuse.

Very diff than in a daycare bathroom.
This gives the vibe of someone watching the cameras..

A few years ago a rabbi who ran a program for girls at bar Ilan was caught he put a camera in the girks dorm
He got off
At Westchester day school a rabbi was caught with pictures of kids

Totally not normal.
Some schools have them outside the stalls/sink areas. So they know if more than 1 person went into a stall, if kids are messing around in the bathroom, ditching class etc.

No camera should be anywhere that will view anyone without clothing or in any sort of compromised position.
No excuses.

The situation doesn’t sound ok, but no reason to panic like this..
OP can clarify with administration.
If they don’t give a straight answer I would get very nervous
