From the animated discussion and debate going on here, it seems like Double Take is very popular. I agree that they're well-written, but I don't really go for it. I'm not sure if I can verbalize it well, but somehow, because it's fiction and it's showing both points of view, it just doesn't seem realistic to me. Anyone else feel the same way? I really miss Lifelines, and love that Ami has Human Experience every week.

Just curious which one you all prefer: Double Take or Lifelines.

Lifelines didn't feel true to life either to me, I feel the same about the Human Experience too.

I think that either the stories are totally made up, or so many details have been changed that it no longer resembles the original story.

I love Double Take, it makes me think and it's fun to discuss with other people.

I was featured in lifelines and the details changed were very minimal (my first name, my career which was irrelevant )

I've met the person who writes/wrote lifelines. They weren't made up, people were interviewed very well over an hour on a story.

I miss lifelines and don’t really enjoy DT so much. I like reading something with a point to it/ending.

I miss lifelines too, but find dt interesting in its own way. Almost feels like reading a thread on imamother sometimes, but only one side. It makes for some fun discussions with my teenagers, who tend to see life in a more black and white way.

Imamother threads are true (assuming it's not a troll). I don't like Double Take because it's fictional.
There's a frum series similar to Chaim Walder's Kids Speak called "It's a Kid's World, After All"- except that I realized it was fictional. I found it so silly to read what seems like a personal account, except it's fiction-
"Hi, my name is Moshe. I'm 10 years old and I live in Yerushalayim."

Kids speak was fictional, too. I was quite disappointed when I realized that there was no way some of those stories were true. (This was before the whole scandal broke. I loved those books.)

Chaim Walder claimed they were true.

I contributed to a lifelines story once and the author was meticulous about getting the facts straight and conducted a lot of research before writing. Super talented author in general. I miss it (I enjoy DT too though).

Same! I loved life-lines, cut them out and filed them in plastic pocket ring binder!

I've got them from 2006 and still enjoy reading them!

I do find double take interesting to read but miss lifelines that were true.
Also, every lifeline has me getting irritated: either: JUST TELL HER! or ASK A SHAILA!!

Then there wouldn't be any point in the stories. If they ask a sh'aila there wouldn't be a story.

The whole point is to create a conversation, to bring awareness.
