Better to limit fruits-they are natures candy. Eggs/cottage cheese/plain full fat yogurt with a few berries are all much better and healthier options.

I’m dairy intolerant meaning I can have a little cheese once a week. That’s it. So if I have eggs or tuna at 12 for my first meal, should I have a snack/fruit at 2? I want to be hungry for dinner at 5:30. Or I can do a small breakfast like one hard boiled egg and one cucumber. Then a nice salad for lunch at 2-3. All tips are so appreciated!

I work, and 2-3 is very hectic for me so I like to eat a big brunch and then I’m usually ok until dinner. If needed I can munch on some nuts etc.

I can choose healthier carbs like a sweet potato or whole grain bread but if I don’t have any carbs with my meals I just end up cheating and eventually giving up.
Some examples of meals I eat-
Broccoli with a melted slice of reduced fat cheese- I enjoy it but an hour later I’m very hungry.
Salad with tuna- filling but I’m not completely satisfied
Salad with turkey- same thing- it tastes good but I’m starving an hour later.
I know cutting out carbs is the way to go but I’m not managing like that. I’ll either end up eating something that I really shouldn’t eat and justify it that it’s during my eating hours or I’ll eat at night when I’m supposed to be fasting because I’m going crazy from hunger.
I wanted some good ideas for meals that will satisfy me.
Dats me- I like your diet 😊 but you are either starving all morning or starving all night. I can’t do that.
Another thing that I have to do to make this work is eat in the morning which means I have to stop eating early in the evening. I try to stop eating at around 5:30pm so I can have a normal breakfast.
If I eat oatmeal, whole wheat/grain bread, gluten free pasta (sometimes) and sweet potatoes I’m barely losing weight.
I really need some new ideas. |
You need more fat in your diet

I also like a big brunch. Question is if that’s ok to have as a first meal on an empty stomach?

Why not? A normal meal, not overeating.
That's what many IFers do. Two meals. Lunch when you break your fast and supper later. Healthy snack in the middle if needed. If you do that, you shouldn't need a snack two hours later.

I think that as long as it’s in your eating window it shouldn’t be a problem.

I find that because I’m eating a little later in the morning than I usually do (it’s a temporary summer thing), I’m more hungry when I eat and need to eat more to feel satisfied.
I normally eat at 8-8:30 in the morning. This week it was between 10:30-11:30. I guess the good thing is that I’m still not hungry enough to eat yet again. I’m done eating before 6pm most nights.
I cannot stick with this over shabbos. I know some people can.
I also really fall of track on fast days (coming up) because I need to eat more before and subconsciously afterwards too.
Hoping for good results despite the fact that shabbos and Tisha B’Av are coming up.
Since I started this thread I lost 3 lbs. As long as the scale goes down and not up, it’s good!

I’m so happy for you! I will weigh myself again next week Friday. I haven’t lost a pound in 3 years. If this works for me I will be over the moon. Shabbos will be a challenge but iyh will be good!

Do you get your cholesterol checked? Is it ok?
I find eating a lot of full fat dairy products and red meat really elevates my cholesterol. I went vegan for a year ramped up my exercising wound up losing a lot of weight and lowering my cholesterol and blood sugar.

My cholesterol is fine. And if you do the research you will find that high cholesterol isn't really a problem. It's not based on science.
