I'm a resident physician in my last year of residency and will be making 100-115K this year. Once I graduate residency, salary goes up significantly (I'm not going to post a number because people go "whoa!" while conveniently forgetting that it took me 13 years of training to get there.) It's possible to make a high salary without an advanced degree, but don't listen to anyone who makes it sound easy peasy.

There really are not shortcuts to making money. You have to put the work in either via advanced schooling/training or other avenues like business
.

It also sounds like you have a decent gig but need to put in more hours.

I agree that there are no shortcuts. You have to work hard. Sometimes develop specialized skills. That doesn't necessarily require a specialized degree.

Anyone have any ideas how I can make more money as an OT? Many years of nursing home/rehab experience. It can also be a non clinical job. I’m just being extremely underpaid and it’s super frustrating.

Are you familiar with MNRI?

photographer, about 100k a year.

I disagree with previous posters who said you need a lot of schooling and training to earn big. I had no formal training in my field of work (although I do have a bachelor's degree in an unrelated field). I also have some very wealthy customers and no plenty of others who own businesses without having an ounce of education aside from cheder. There are also people who are great at investing in the right areas and earn a huge amount from that.

It's a lot of mazel and being relevant/serving a need.

Im a pharmacist making 240k a year but man it's tough.

DH is in kollel so we're a single income family. We don't qualify for government benefits..

Student loans are a horror story.

Plus we took on some debt to have our second kid, as we struggles with secondary infertility.

My job is ok but VERY exhausting to be on my feet most of the day.

We are lightyears away from being able to afford a home, in fact just paying bills (plus our loans off) aren't easy

I'm in my last year of pharmacy school (FINALLY!). I would also like to know where a pharmacist makes 240k (in a non-industry setting) because I feel like there's a lot of talk about wage stagnation and was nervous I'd max out at like 150k, which is especially disappointing when nurses are making 140k.

Magnolia, if you don't mind sharing, what is your specialty? Are you happy you did PGY1 and PGY2?

Right now, I'm trying to pursue fellowships, but it's SO competitive so I'm not confident I'll get one. Residency is more of a plan B for me.

I don't know if this counts for anything but I got an offer to run a daycare for $150k (MsEd ness) but declined because it was to much for me to undertake at this point in my life..

Agree the trend for top students is more fellowship these days. Less competitive to get residencies although still not a walk in the park. But fellowships are mostly unregulated/non accredited unlike residency so you need to be super careful that you are getting a good experience.
My specialty is Infectious diseases.
I started at 115 post PGY2 but BH closer to 2 at this point.

Similar here. Clinical pharmacist working at a hospital, then I take extra shifts per diem at a local pharmacy in addition.

That's the reason my salary seems so high, it's just because I work a lot of extra hours. This isn't typical for a pharmacist, as far as I am aware.

Wow! I’m thinking of starting to do medical billing. Any advice for a newbie? Are you doing supervisory work? What type of medical billing are you doing?

I started out 10 years ago. Do Medicare billing for a nursing home back office company. I was making $35k after 3 years went to a diff company they paid me $65k was there for 4 and started in my current company at $85k and they raised me nicely every year. I am not a supervisor (I don't want to be one) I am just very efficient- if I were to leave they would need 3 ppl to replace me. I'm due for another raise now so we'll see what they give.

Nyc. It's an insane job. I had experience and it was a huge daycare.. btw if you open a voucher daycare in your home you can make similar margins. But by now there's a lot of competition already..

I don't have the space for a real playgroup setup, unless I do an extension which will take time to save up for.
I always wanted to do a voucher playgroup for special needs and mainstream children, where I can be teacher/therapist mode or be the director have teachers and I can do therapy, where complex medical children are welcome as well, with a therapy room, nurse/aid changing room etc... maybe one day. I would try to have therapists come for some of each child's mandate so that some of the burden can be off the parents, and they can still have some of the mandate at home so they can be part of the sessions. It would be open door policy, the parents can come whenever and join a session in the therapy room.
I do have a back door and bathroom in the basement as well as good ac and lightning. And a fire proof door so it could be I would be able to get it legally certified. It's just small, not sure I would send my own kid to such a small spaced playgroup. Plus if I would have all the extra adults that may come along with special needs children it definitely would need to be bigger.
If anyone wants to take this idea and open, please do!!! And make sure to let me know so I can send adorable kiddos your way!
