The ones I buy from evergreen say Mezonos. I was told to wash and say hamotzie regardless as it constitutes a meal

It's a real מחלוקת הפוסקים. The kosova ruv zatzal had a very strong opinion against mezonas rolls.

Does it taste like bread or cake? If it tastes like bread and you use it as bread, there is no such thing as mezonos.

A little off topic, but why do you not wash on babka or Cinnamon buns that was made with extra challah dough?
I thought if it's flour and water you wash, but apple juice you don't.

If you're havong enough to be a seudah, you'd need to wash on it too. But it is cake-like in taste which is what differentiates it.

The reason it says made with juice is because some people will say mezonos if made with at least 2/3rds fruit juice and some people will always wash no matter how the bread or rolls are made.
So they're announcing to one without offending the other.

There are those that say if it is mezonos you cannot make homotzi on it
One must wash on a piece of bread or matzah first

Although Mezonos bread can be complicated, if it was made with fruit juice it's OFFICIALLY Mezonos, yes. For those that hold of having Mezonos bread under a certain amount etc.

big machlokehs.
in our home, we would say it’s hamotzi. and we wash for buns made with leftover challah dough, even if it has a lot of filling.
others, do not.

Because it is filled. A hard cracker like texture also makes something mezonos.
