Does anyone a know how much does your chance of twins increases after 40 ? Naturally ?
With regular fertility ? With pcos ?
Did you have twins after 40 ?
Anyone you know ?
Thanx

I was 24 when I got pregnant with my twins.
My grandmother in her 20s.
Most people on the twin group are in their twenties. Some are in their thirties.

Not sure. My grandmother is also very tall and twins run in the family. I am not tall at all. I am slightly under 5’5.

My understanding is that it’s a shift in ovulation patterns that can lead to higher chance of twins. If you mature and ovulate more than one egg per cycle, etc.

I had PCOS and tended to either have anovulatory cycles or ovulate multiple eggs per cycle (we tracked it for a few reasons by ultrasound and bloodwork). I had my twins when I was 30.

My mother had her twins at 27.

There are twins galore in my family, on both sides. Most of them were born to relatively young mothers.

I was told that my personal chance of twins was about 4x the average, due to PCOS and already having had twins. Once you’ve had (fraternal) twins, there is reason to suspect higher chances it could happen again.

Yes. Once you have twins you have a 1 in 12 chances of having twins again. (8%)

Who knows. I never heard of most of these. But I scored 5/6 on those factors, and I did have twins!

I only had family history. (Mo-di uncles) so not really fraternal. But on that side of the family my grandmothers’ sisters have identical and fraternal grandchildren and great grandchildren.

And I have 5 out of 7 and no twins (yet). I've been pg 12 times (not 12 kids, but also never twin pg).

I conceived twins at 40. No PCOS, but I had had shorter cycles for the last two years. No family history. I was very shocked.
I'm short and slim.

Bringing your own experience as proof is meaningless. ImaMothers do this all the time.

Just because you're more LIKELY to have twins if you're taller doesn't mean that you HAVE TO be tall. There are plenty of shorter women with twins, aren't there?

It doesn't disqualify those statistics, if it is indeed true.

Twinning is more likely with increasing maternal age. I had one set at 32 and a second at 35. KAH.

I'm five feet. And I had identical twins at age 37. LOL Full term!
