Preferably somewhere not too expensive... And what is the going rate for this? I've never dyed my hair but desperately need to.
ETA: I only need the roots done, since it's for when I wear my tichel or fall only.
Also, I bought myself a box of dye but I'm afraid to use it, I recently saw a woman who stained her skin with the dye and it was a blotch in her forehead, very noticeable. So now I'm all worried about dyeing on my own..

I do it myself. I buy a box of hair dye for $7 and it’s really easy to apply

Ya- did that for years. It is inexpensive- but so messy! Stains the bathroom sink, clothing- and I am very neat and careful---- finally decided to just color professionally- wow- what a difference! Amazing results! It s pricey, like $60- but lasts like 2 months. Definitely worth it. And it is only for the sides- where gray was clearly popping out: I wear a wig 95% of the day-

You can put Vaseline all around your hairline to prevent stains. You wipe it off after dye is done.
Ask a friend to help you to make sure dye is all over.
When you're ready to rinse kneel in front of bathtub and rinse to prevent staining.

Try Elisheva salon
I do it all the time myself. I buy a kit for roots that is simple to apply.
Put Vaseline on skin around.
I find the dye wipes off with alchohol. Every time I freak out but it comes off with alchohol. (Also rubbing toothpaste in works)
I rinse off in the shower.

Are you talking gray hair? If your hair isn’t gray there are temporary dyes you can add to your hair when you take a shower. Super easy. And if you do it every time the color will keep up nicely. Gray hair is much harder to do though.
