You only shock it 2-3 times a season with that many people using it? I’d think it would need to be shocked much more often.

Wondering this as well. We stopped renting ours out because we couldn’t afford a commercial insurance policy and if cvs CVs and accident happened there’s no cap on liability. And homeowners doesn’t cover if you are making money off of it

I think cuz it’s a salt water pool..

I have a chlorine pool.
Some numbers on here are not adding up.

I don’t rent it out, filter runs 7 hours in a 24 hour period( not more cuz of minimal use) no heater( no gas expense)
Expenses still run about 1000 for the season.

If I’d be renting it out… can’t see how expenses that include heating and electrical runs only at 2-3k

I’m wondering this too. Our broker said we wouldn’t be able to get insurance to rent it out - and we’re better off not renting it. He told us if someone were to get hurt they might not sue us but their medical insurance might.

I just told my husband that I read on this post about how much you make from renting the pool and his response was not enough to cover lawyer fees if you get sued...

I have saltwater and we shock it way more often (without renting it out). My previous neighbor shocked it anytime a crowd went swimming in it.

But are you sure that’s even if you’re making money renting it out? Because our insurance company claims no one will cover that except a commercial insurance plan which STARTS at 1k

Do all your kids know how to swim?

I'm not, and I never offer to be on lifeguard duty for that reason. It's on my to do list though.

I do watch my kids, and they all know how to swim besides for my baby - but I give them lessons as soon as they turn 4 or are tall enough to reach the floor

Can you see anyone in the pool from any windows?

Yes I do have a bathroom and changing area
I charge close to $100 per hour, but I could go lower if it's empty and people ask for discounts.

My pool is completely private, can't look into the pool area at all

What does it cost to resurface the inside by you and how much with the deck?
What do you pay per month for maintenance - I assume you are not in FL or a common place where people have pools.
Do you use it enough to 'justify' the cost of maintenance?

Things I wonder as a pool owner myself.

Where do you live? Is the price so high because you have private changing rooms etc or because you're the only one around?

Wont say where I live, but we do the maintenance ourselves, which is why it doesn't cost us that much.
