Hi fellow pool owner.
How big is your pool and how often do you shock it?
Do you maintain it yourself?
Salt water?
What’s your pool area like?

I have much more but that’s it for now;)

How much does it cost you to open, close and maintain?
How much do you make each season in rentals?

Our pool is a 16x32. We shock it probably at max 2-3 times a season.

We do our own maintenance and work really hard doing it, but it wouldn't be half as nice and well maintained if we wouldn't do it ourselves.

Yes, saltwater.

Our pool area is gorgeous! It used to be very old and rundown, but we redid it and it's really beautiful now.

Do you have little kids? Does it stress you out safety wise? What safety measures do you have in place?

Would you go swimming by yourself, or do you only go when there’s someone with you so that if you have a medical episode, someone will be there to pull you out?

How much of your backyard does it take up? Does it bother you in the winter?

How much does it cost you annually?

Costs us probably around 2-3k per season (including heating and the water bill)

We can earn between 20-40 grand, depending on the season.

20-40k - wow!
So are you super busy with rentals? Do you ever get to use it yourself? How annoying is it to have people constantly in your backyard?
I'm also a pool owner and we never rent it out. Sounds like good money, but I can't imagine how much work that takes to be that busy with rentals.

Yes we have little kids. We have a double lock on our pool gate. You need to open both together, and kids can't reach the top one so they are safe. We also have a very strong spring that shuts the door automatically so even if someone leaves it open, it closes automatically as soon as they let go. We also teach them how to swim at a real young age, and when they are still too little to reach the floor of the pool we make sure they know they can't go in without floaties.

I wouldn't go swimming by myself. I always try to make sure there's someone in the pool area with me.

Takes up around 1/3 of my backyard. Doesn't bother me in the winter at all.

Costs us between 2-3k to maintain

Do you have insurance for renting it out?
Are you considered if something were to happen?

Wow how does it bring in 20-40k a summer?
Is it always rented per hour? How many hours does it actually get rented for? (Who rents it in middle of the day for example)

Do you rent out just the pool or your home for weekends? Or do you rent for camps?

On weekends it's almost never available for us, but during the week I do use it plenty. And my kids know when its rented out its not available, and they are mostly ok with it because they still use it plenty.

I don't love having people in my backyard constantly, but it's just part of it so too bad. The pool area is very private so once they are inside it doesn't bother me at all, since I can't see them.

It's a crazy amount of work, but money talks Wink

Wow. The only times we get to swim as a family are friday afternoons and sundays, can't imagine giving that up. Wish there was a way to rent it out for during the day on weekdays only Smile
