can I use almost pureed onions instead of onion powder?

That would create a very intense onion flavor. Much more intense than a small pinch of onion powder. Difference between pueed raw onion and a tiny amount of garlic powder.

I would make a fairly basic batch before you add very strong ingredients.

If there are breadcrumbs and there are ingredients listed it would need to be listed as an allergen.
Thanks for the heads up though because it never would have dawned on me.

The fun part about tuna is it’s extremely versatile and you can add literally anything to it.
Play around with adding different ingredients and see what you like.
I sometimes add everything bagel spice (which has the minced onion) and it’s delicious. When I do that I usually add mustard too.
A very popular tuna salad when I was growing up was adding an egg and pickles and it became like a salad and it’s delicious plain too.
I recently saw somewhere (or Dansdeals or ChaniApplebaum) to add grapes and some other stuff to tuna. I never tried it but just shows that literally everything works.

I can tell when someone had t squeezed all the liquid out of the tuna bed adding mayo. When I was catering, I had a staff member who got it dry as sand and it was amazing tuna because we replaced that moisture with the mayo.

Breadcrumbs are for the lazy people who don’t squeeze it out, and want to hide that there’s extra moisture.

It also lightens up the texture and flavor and also stretches the tuna to feed more people at a lower cost.
