I was thinking about the regular, not massively Rebbish. |
FWIW there were many ancestors mentioned that were "regular" and not Rebbish.

I know.
But many of them got drowned out.
Which is understandable when a thread is so long and everyone is trying to figure out just HOW they're related to the Taz

But it kept on getting sidetracked by Big Names |
It wasn't being hijacked, seems like ancestors who weren't getting replies either have smaller families or some people don't know about them. When someone is famous, more people will know about them. If someone knows they're a descendant of Rashi/a Rav/a Shevet they don't know close to all of their gggggggg grandparents in that generation. Only the famous one, or one it's easy to keep track of how they are descendants.
Why is that? Because if you are a grandchild or the Rav and of Yankel Todrus in four generations who will the grandchildren know about? And in ten generations?
I only know who my great grandparents are for a few generations up. But I know of a few other that are from much earlier times because they were famous/historical figures.
These are just the facts of life.
It's not fair to portray it like people with Yichus are sidetracking a thread when they are responding to the op and staying on topic just because you didn't get responses.

This is not true. I know people who are coven who are not kohanim, and therefore not related to others.

If you or outer space know any names, first or last, I’d be interested in knowing. Perhaps we are related!

If they were both 7th Gen Yerushalmim from the Talmidei HaGra, there's a very high chance that we're cousins. Though we might be like 7th cousins!

Hmm... Here's some I remember:
Tzvebner
Meizlish
Yulus
Veisenshtern
But could be those were just other families who married in, I'd have to ask my parents for better info. And there are so many more...

Any of my Hoffman cousins here? Some changed their names to Hopkowitz after ww2.
I wonder about mental illness in the family.

None of those sound familiar :-(
I was actually friends with a woman whose grandfather was the mohel in the churva shul, where my grandfather had his bris, but I don’t know her maiden name. Her married name was Bunder. I don’t know her family’s name.
