Is it minhag or halacha not to sew on rosh chodesh?
Does it refer to sewing full clothes? Alterations?
What about needlepoint? Knitting or crocheting?
If you know, please answer. I need to know for today.

It's a minhag.
Some ppl also don't wash laundry or do haircuts.
Some ppl do one but not the other...

Thank you candy cane. That's a wonderful resource.
According to the explanation, women shouldn't do melachas that take effort. That would include sewing clothes and doing alterations.
I wonder if that would include needlepoint or knitting if it brings you pleasure. I, for instance, do needlepoint as a distraction, to calm me.

A few years ago I asked the shaila about it regarding the 9 days and I was told no to needlepoint. Regarding Rosh chodesh I was told that we can cut fabric and alter patterns just not the actual sewing. I've been frustrated that it seems Rosh chodesh has been on Sundays a lot.
