at what age do you think its okay to begin to patch or hit your kid lightly for discipline reasons.
I saw my friend patch her kid very lightly but still she is only 14 months.!!!! that got me thinking
what do you think?
I think that is way to young!!!!!!

Actually, if it's not done in anger, I think it's just the right age! Personally, I have not potched my kids, but if I would, I would do it only up until age 3.

I think they understand more than we give them credit for.

I think it depends on the child, whether they would understand it at this age. I would try other means first though.

I think a little (light, not hurting) patch to a 1 year old is okay under certain circumstances - danger, etc... If the child keeps trying to turning the stove on, a little patch after a few times will hopefully teach him a lesson.
I have a 15 month old -- they're quite smart at that age! I don't patch him, but once in a while my husband will give him a light one

to my daughter "patchie, patchie" is a hand game, and once in the store my husband gave her a little patch, but she didn't get it at all. she thought he was playing with her.
