once when that was my answer to my 5-yr-old, he answered heatedly - "I don't want it bezrat Hashem - I want it now!!"
I obviously had started saying it to buy time - makes you think twice about what you say and then do.

Yes. I have the same problem.
But I tell Schneur that it means that sometimes we really don't know. We can't always get what we want...I can't say "yes" when I don't know...and I don't want to say "no" when I don't know...
Our lives depend on Hashem not on us...I think kids can learn this lesson early...
