rachie, I basically eyeball the amounts, sorry its not exact.
the salad is shredded red cabbage, sliced scallions, some chopped cilantro leaves, and toasted sesame seeds added right before serving.
I make the dressing in the processor, it's adapted from some other recipes:
5-6 garlic cloves, a 2 inch chunk of ginger, 1 part soy sauce, 1 part rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar, some sweetener (honey, sugar, splenda all came out great,) 1 part canola oil, a few tablespoons sesame oil.

LOL, sarahd. I have coleslaw and potato salad most weeks, except when I get royally sick of it. I grew up on coleslaw and potato salad for Shabbos too.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that the price of gefilte fish has gone through the roof? Both jars and frozen loaves . . . !
Did the fish unionize or something?

Beef stroganoff (easy, one-pan dish):
1 1/2 to 2 lbs. sliced sirloin (I've made it with other cuts of beef as well)
6 tbsp. margarine (I use a little oil)
1 c. sliced onions
1 clove garlic
1 1/2 c. sliced mushrooms, (fresh)
3 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. ketchup
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
2 c. water
1/4 c. cooking sherry
1 1/2 c. Tofutti sour cream
Sear beef, garlic, mushrooms in margarine/oil. Remove from heat. Add flour, salt, pepper and ketchup. Add water, wine simmer until almost absorbed. Add sour cream and heat through before serving.
It is absolutely delicous. I usually serve it with mashed potatoes, but it can go equally well with noodles and rice.
