Oy I can't believe it's Shabbos either. I've had such a busy week and I can't be bothered cooking. Fortunately a friend called the other day and invited us for lunch, I couldn't get my "yes thank you so much" in quick enough
tuna mousse - went down well last week so I'll do it again
lentil soup
baked chicken shnitzel
mushroom sauce
couscous & vegetables
green beans in garlic & teriyaki
green salad

Don't get nervous, I read these menues and I think now thats a whole lot of food for one meal. I hardley make shabbos so when I do I have fun going all out - but its a treat, to think that some woman do this every single week? is it neccesary, does everyone eat all this? Do you have a house full of guests each week or is this a regular type menu? It must cost a fortune and take a lot of work, all I can say is wow!
oh and Im also impressed that kids eat the more "exotic" different tastes mentioned here. All the kids I know are rather picky...do I have to train mine young to enjoy different creative foods? hmm I think Id better start the training with DH. totally not making fun just observing and wondering

I make a lot because my kids eat every hour. And chas veshalom if they have to eat the same thing twice in two hours. I also count on the leftovers for Sunday night dinner, or some of them at least. I'm also having over two teenage guests who are extremely picky eaters, not that I cook around their whims but I do need an extra salad and other things that I don't usually prepare when they don't come.
I do love having guests. And Shvat is a month of guests for me, I can't wait!

hope you have a great time! just one q - can I come for dessert? looks like you're having a ton, so you should have some for me |
I took out my menu to make it shorter...
well you can come over now for the chocolate dessert or the apple sauce! And we did end up having last minute guests by day so the extra dessert came in handy although I skipped the roast chicken.

What's this? Sounds good. |
I use raspberries, blackberries, cherries and tinned plums.
Put them in a pot with a couple of sticks of cinnamon and a slice lemon.
Bring to the boil, turn the heat off and cover the pot and leave to soak.
I put it on the platter with the soup for Friday night dessert.
It's great served over some plain cake.
