question about the challah: the garlic and herbs are in the dough or as a topping before you put the loaves in the oven?
Here's the rough plan:
Marinated Tomato Salad
|
How do you make that? |
It's in the Lubavitch purple cookbook. At this point I tend to wing it. It tastes best made earlier in the day so the tomatoes actually sit and get marinated.
The basic gist is add tomatoes, basil or oregano, garlic or garlic powder, mustard powder, oh and of course olive oil and vinegar (I like balsamic vinegar the best)
If you do not have the Lubavitch cookbook I'll get you actual measurements, bli neder.

Broiled salmon fillet
peas
baked potatoes
For lunch tomorrow:
Tortilla Black Bean Casserole
2 c. chopped onion
1 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
2 cloves garlic
1 14 1/2 oz can tomatoes, cut up (I use fresh)
3/4 c. picante sauce (I leave this out)
2 tsp ground cumin
2 15 oz cans black beans or kidney beans, drained (I cook my own from scratch and use those)
12 6 inch corn tortillas (I use the larger flour tortillas)
8 oz. shredded cheese
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
2 c. shredded lettuce
1 c. sour cream
Saute the onion, pepper, garlic, tomatoes, picante and cumin until lightly cooked. Simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Stir in beans.
In a 13x9x2 inch pan (or whatever you have that's close to that), start layering: tortillas, bean mixture, cheese, tortillas, bean mix, cheese, etc. Cover and bake at 350 for 30-35 mins. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Serve with chopped fresh lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream for toppings.
SOOOOOOOOOOO fast and easy and YUMMY!

Can I tell you which cookbooks most are from and if you need a specific recipe, let me know? It's too much to type up!
warm mushroom pot salad- KBD short on time
rainbow salad- KBD kids in the kitchen
orange chicken- KBD short on time
mushroom vol-au-vents (note, dh corrected my spelling )- puff pastry shells baked and filled with oriental mushroom recipe from purple cookbook. Serve warm/hot.
lemon meringue pie- purple cookbook
I'll type the other recipes when I'm not too lazy to get up and get my recipe file.

Fish Patties:
1 roll of fish, thawed
2 onions, grated
2 carrots, grated
2 stalks celery, grated
2 tbsp. honey
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
3/4 c. matzo meal
1 c. bread crumbs
duck sauce
Preheat oven to 350. In large bowl, mix all ing. besides for bread crumbs and duck sauce. Place heaped spoonfuls into bread crumbs and form patties. Baked on greased baking sheet for 10 min on each side. Spoon duck sauce over each patty. Cover pan tightly with foil and bake for additional 20-30 min.
Enjoy!! They're delicious!
Variation: instead of duck sauce, you can use tom sauce
