I've never cooked meat before - like roast - and I'm having guests who like meat. I'm thinking of getting brisket. Anyone have any really delicious recipes that are good hot and cold for during the day?
Also how big of a peice of meat do I have to buy to feed 8-10 people?
Thanks!!

ask the butcher how much would be good for that many people.
I have a good and EASY recipe for roast- put roast in a pan w/ a (very) little water on bottom. pour a can of whole berry cranberry sauce on top of the rest and then a pkg. of onion soup mix. cover and bake for 1 1/2- 2 1/2 hours. you can also put sliced potatoes and carrots on the bottom. YUM!!

613 do you think I could use your recipe for minute steak? I'm asking because it's thin slices as opposed to big roast and wondering if it will dry out in the oven.

I vote that you slow cook it.
I hate it when the meat is too tough. By slow cooking it, you ensure that it'll be nice and soft.

I buy all different types of roasts, depending on how many people. this is the sauce I use, sorry I dont have measurments I sort of eyeball it. Bone Suckin Sauce (I dont like the hot version so I buy the regular), duck sauce, chopped onions, and spices, mix in all together and dump it on the roast. I like to slice my meat really thin...YUM

No, by slow cooking I mean baking it in the oven, but on a lower temp like 290-300.
