is that a cranberry tomato sauce or swet and sour tomato sauce?

Somone once made these for me when they came over my house. They were amazzzing! She had a great receipe but it was just too patchkie for me as I have three small children!

I have used both oh the idea to defrost was originally an accident. I should always have those accidents

I've also done salsa--just peel the paper off, pour salsa over and cook (approximately 1 small jar of salsa for 1 fish loaf). And serve it hot--it's great.

momof3, I've done your onionsoup/paprika recipe several times and my husband likes it!! (plus no pot to clean!!)
re: recipe with salsa....can you serve it cold as well??

I've seen something interesting done with those yellow (I think of them as Indian) spices. I don't know exactly what it is but it brings a whole different flavor.

Saute veggies (carrot, onion, zucchinni). Add tomato sauce and spices of your liking. Pour over loaf and bake.
Salsa is good too.
Defrost it, flatten and add spinach on top. Roll up jelly roll style. Bake.
Defrost, mix with whatever you want- veggies, salsa, spices, etc. Put in round baking pan and serve in pie slices.

You put a little olive oil on the loaf of fish and then roll it in sesame seeds and then bake it. It comes out with a pretty crust of seeds and it has a subtle but interesting flavor. Or else just sprinkle on some paprika and bake it.

My cousin put spinach (frozen kind, cooked & water squeezed out) around the loaf then a pice of rolled out puff pastry.

I have done the spinach thing a few times and it hasn't worked out.
Perhaps the spinach needs to be mixed with something....

One of the Suzie Fishbein cookbooks (I think KBD Entertains) has a yummy one. You boil the fish with taco spices, then cool and slice. Then it gets baked with a sauce that is tomato sauce, carrots, onions, and I think a little sugar. A little bit of a pain b\c of the two steps. I sometimes smear ketchup, onion powder, garlic powder, and then bake it, comes out with a nice crust and good taste. Not so creative, but gets tons of compliments and people want to know the recipe. And takes 2 seconds.

Three-Coloured Fish Loaf
1 1/2 pounds frozen fish loaf
1 egg beaten
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. onion powder
pepper to taste
1 (300-g) box chopped spinach defrosted and drained
3 medium-sized carrots, cooked, mashed
preheat oven to 350 F.
In a large bowl, combine defrosted fish with egg,sugar , salt, garlic powder, onion powder and pepper. Divide mixture in half. Press one half into a 4 1/2 x 8 1/2-inch loaf pan. Divde remaining mixture in half. Mix spinach with one half of mixture and carrots with the other. Spread the spinach mixture over plain fish in loaf pan. Then spread carrot mixture over the spinach mixture.
Bake uncovered for 1 hour.

Quick and easy supper for kids. Slice frozen gefilte fish roll. smear mayo and spices on top. Bake.
Kids love it and it's easy to make.
