I was thinking about making pizza for the end of the fast.
I think I'll put up a soup in the crock pot for after the fast and maybe for before. A nice hearty soup. I know it's hot, but we have A/C.

I'm going to make a hearty vegetable soup, I think. With barley, orange lentils and beans.
The best foods for before a fast are foods with complex carbohydrates and not alot of salt. Also, protein and fat are good, but not too much fat that may give heartburn... No matter what you eat you'll be hungry the next morning!
Also, lots and lots of watermelon the day before.

Sure. Use that and a can of tomato paste, add water (I would add 1 1/2 cans of water from the paste and 1 from the crushed tomatoes) and mix. Add some salt, black pepper, minced garlic and oregano (or minced fresh basil right at the end). Bring to a boil. Ladle into a bowl, add a half a cup of cooked rice and enjoy!

I can't eat tomatoes before a fast. Too acid-y and causes heartburn.

Bialies and stuffed vegetables (cabbage/zuccini) sounds nice to me. Watermelon, apple juice & israeli salad.

Lentil soup leftover from shabbos, pasta, potatoes and my husband said he would eat fish. After the fast I haven't even though. I guess breakfast, like cereal or fruit then maybe an hour later toast with something.

Is there a minhag to eat bagels either before or after the fast? I think I heard that recently, but don't recall who told me, or if it was for before or after.

I'm making courgette and onion soup, a cheese and vegetable frittata with baked potatoes, and I have mango ice cream left over from shabbat
I haven't thought about breaking the fast but we usually break on copious amounts of English tea and apple cake (bought).
Later on we'll probably have a bowl of soup but nothing much else.

Sounds like a take-off of eating eggs, food of aveilus (because of their round shape, shows the circle of life).

I'll prob. make kasha with whole wheat pasta since they're both good sources of complex carbs and ra_mom's egg roulade with veggies for protein. Maybe some kind of lentil or pea soup if it's not too hot with homemade ww rolls.
Anyone have a good recipe for the rolls?
Oh and of course lots and lots of watermelon and tap water
btw I found this very helpful: http://www.weightlossforall.co.....s.htm
