scb, can I have your recipe for Orange-Pineapple Cream? It sounds like something my MIL makes and dh loves. She gave me her recipe for it, but the amounts go by weight and it always takes me forever to figure it out.

And also, how do you make your fish salad?

The orange-pineappple cream is so easy. I take a small Rich's whipped topping, and whip it up with a handblender for about 30 seconds. I open and drain a can of pineapple, and add 1 pack of orange jello mix, and mush all that very finely with the handblender. Then mix it all together and freeze. You can make it with any jello and any can of fruit - another favorite of ours is cherry jello powder with canned peaches.

The fish salad is another Yekkishe family classic. I take the box of Dagim frozen flounder and cook it with water, vinegar, onions, carrots and celery. Once it's cooked, I discard the water and the vegetables (You don't have to throw out the vegetables... but you don't need them for the fish salad.) Mash the fish with a fork, and add it finely chopped pickles and celery. Mix in some mayo and some pickle juice. It's delicious!

Nope, not MIL's recipe, but thank you for it. I bet my son will love it!

Figures. MIL - a yekke's yekke Wink - makes something that's the same idea, which is why I wanted to hear how you make it. Your recipe sounds more appetizing (don't anyone tell her) and maybe dh will like it too.

I wonder if I am the only one who ends up not sticking to what I plan to make.
No potato salad, sesame noodles instead. I made elf's mocha bundt cake and decided to also make an apple kugel recipe someone posted that looks good.
