Anyone who is cut down early is called a Kadosh.
Just to illustrate, this would be true even in a case of suspected suicide, since we have no way of knowing whether maybe he regretted it at the last second. If someone jumps off a roof but a car hits him and kills him before he gets to the ground - he is a Kadosh because he did not necessarily want to kill himself at that minute. This reasoning is why there are really hardly any suicides that are l'maaseh buried outside of the regular cemetery.
Source: my husband but I don't want to bug him now to tell me how he knows this, but if it becomes necessary I can probably ask him a different time.

I read somewhere that if a person was killed or was choked to death the malach hamuves wasnt the one who killed the person.

I'd like to see a source too, because I have never heard of this nor have I ever heard of Hakadosh being used for anything but someone killed al kiddush haShem.
