what shape would you use for shabbos?

Disposables/ fancy disposables Wink

Deeper ones. It's the shallowness that's the problem. Goes over the rim too easily and is hard to eat from once it's low.

We're chassidish btw.

These shapes seem good.
Too deep (staight and deep) also isn't good. Then the spoon has to be too angled to reach the bottom, and you don't really have where to hold it when full.
Regular disposable ones are 12 oz to give you some perspective.
Eta: disposable small/compote ones are 5 oz.

It’s nice though it seems a bit narrow for it’s depth (it also has a very large capacity.)

I like this better. Doesn’t say capacity though.

This is what I meant by deep and narrow. See the last image how the spoon is tilted when it’s at the bottom?
I like this shape better than the super shallow ones. The wide deeper ones like those in the first links I posted are even better.

That’s just my opinion btw. I’m sure there are those who prefer this one Wink

For example this. 9.3 inches which includes a wide rim and 12 oz, (vs the first one that you posted is 9 inches and 6.75 oz with a narrower rim)

My mother has her wedgewood set for 32 years. She uses it every night and shabbos. You would never be able to tell it's that old. Because it's solid white, it doesn't fade from use or the dishwasher. And we aren't delicate types of people.

I have my wedgewood set for almost 10 years. I also use it all week and for shabbos. I love it. We use those flat soup plates. They hold 2 full ladles. It takes some practice but we are all very good at walking with it filled up to the brim. And it rarely ever spills - only if you make a really short stop because someone runs in front of you or something like that. I believe they call them pasta bowls.

They have another type of bowl called a cereal bowl.

The best piece in this set is called the ice cream bowl. It's a mini bowl. Great for dips or smaller portions of soup. Individual chulent portions or desserts.

wow!

they are so hard wearing!

do you know the quality of the china?
it says fine bone - is that the same as premium porcelain?

how is it so hardwearing?

I found a soup one

https://lvharkness.com/product.....59847

the pasta one is really shallow though its wider.

the ice cream one is probably bigger in capacity. you could have bigger portions of soup not smaller.

I have Mikasa china that looks like it’s a similar shape. Online it says it’s 12 oz. It’s a decent sized serving of soup and we often take seconds.

I think the capacity is what they decide it is.

e.g a square corelle soup bowl says 220z. thats if you fill it till the top that you cant move it.

the same size length and height in villeroy and boch will tell you 16 oz.
