Hey ladies,

Guess who?

Thought I'd try an experiment to see how many people would write something about this new topic.

PROCRASTINATION.

And how long it would take to fill up this thread.

Lest see some new creative minds. And for all of you that are reading and not contributing, shame on you! Let's see what you've got!

I work better under pressure
Its always quicker at the end
It may not help my tenure
but those thoughts my mind will fend

Why do something in advance
A deadline works much quicker
id rather go and learn to dance
then make my home look spik-er

At the moment I should be doing work
but this is more amusing
without it I will go beserk
thats the choice I make when choosing

but if I didnt want to type this now
and tomorrow wouldnt be a good time either
then I would just say I dont know how
and ill do it later- I need a breather

(does this even make sense? whatever- ill go back and check it out later)

I'm going to do a lot today.
There's so much I need to do.
I think I'll try to do it now
while my oldest is in school.

It's 7:25, he's on the bus
I have one hour until I leave for work.
I really should get busy now.
But my phone's ringing off the hook.

Its 12:15, I just came home.
Let's see what I can do.
But first I have to eat some lunch
and relax for an hour or two.

2:15, let's get busy
I haven't done what I had to.
So lets hurry and get stuff done.
There's really so much to do.

But first I'll check my email
and surf the internet.
Look! We have a writing club
With a forum I haven't written on yet.

That library book looks so good.
I'll just read one chapter today.
Aah! I finished the book
now lets get supper plans on the way.

Oops! Its almost 4
I really got to run
down to the school bus
to get my oldest son.

Tomorrow is another day.
Maybe I'll get some work done.
Today is almost over,
but at least I had some fun.

Tomorrow I'll get busy
with what should have been done today.
Or maybe I'll just push things off
for another day.

Here's a quick ditty

Tomorrow I'll procrastinate
It'll all just have to wait,
I'm still catching up with yesterday
And I'm already running late!

I feel like I should write a poem
Though I am a work-hater.
But resting is much easier;
I guess I'll write it later.

Putting off for another day
ruminating on what I delay
or totally ignore
cast upon a distant shore
resting, now I think I shall

Hmm,

Sitting here on Imamother reading
Keeps from doing all my cleaning
Dishes, floors and laundry too
Sits forlorn and still "to do"

I'd rather read all the posts,
Than sit and study all my notes.
I'm not taking my final exam,
Or visiting my sweet ol' gram.

Wow, that was a work-out for my brain...I'm not that great at this, but it was fun! Smile

When is tomorrow?
I've been waiting for many a day..
For tomorrow to come around.
The mending basket,
The repairs,
The scrapbooks,
And the pesach cleaning,
All waiting patiently for tomorrow.

The new resolutions,
The diets,
The exercises
The parenting classes,
All longing for tomorrow
And untill tomorrow comes around..
I will eat and do as my heart desires
I'll continue playing the piano,
And Party like there is no tomorrow.

But tomorrow is around the corner.
Tomorrow is around the bend.
So hurry and lazy around to the max
For tomorrow, is tomorrow!

should come across
this poem that is so much floss
in a burst of ennui
note that I don't even try
nay to finish this last night
and don't even put up a fight
to finish this I am determined
I see now the limits of rhyme
of, also, the limits of time

It's not happening ladies. I think I need more time than I can give this while I'm on the computer. Maybe I'll try to take some of these assignments more seriously and work on them with pen and paper during some downtime, not limit myself to rhyme (though I liked that line on the ode thread, about layering the technical with the content) and try to get back to you all. If I don't, you can assume I've... procrastinated.

Procrastinate
Its all I do
Thinking of yesterdays things
pushed off for today
and todays things pushed off until tomorrow
theres so much to do
dishes to wash and floors to mop
it'll just have to wait
sitting here & spacing out ( Wink )
is so much easier to be done

but maybe just maybe I'll just stop
maybe just maybe I'll go and do
if I can that means tomorrow
I can rest for just a bit more!
Doing something today
means tomorrow there's nothing to be done
wow, stopping to procrastinate
might be the better deal
Just doing what needs to be done
maybe the better reel

Procrastinate?
Me? Never!
Doing things so they can get done!
Thats the way I am.
I do it so its done & never hear from it again.

Until.....
Cooking tonight
more dishes piling up
Its just a sick cycle all over again.
Cooking, cleaning, cooking, cleaning
But if its done it wont pile up & bite me in the a*s
But then again more cooking & so more cleaning to be done.

But if I dare procrastinate & push it off for a while
It'd just make more work for me & you, pile after pile
why would one procrastinate?
Why would one wait?
I guess its just pushing off doing things we hate
BUT we'd end up doing it anyway
just doing that much more
why'd we make it double the work
if we can just do it now?!

Procrastination- The Truth Revealed

I can say, I’ll do it tomorrow,
Without any hesitation;
‘Cuz rest assured,
It has a fancy word,
It’s called procrastination.

No need to do it right away,
Just bask in the sensation;
So please delay,
Till another day,
After all, it’s procrastination.

You mean, I should goof off right now?
What a revelation!
But yes it’s true,
Something I must do,
That good old procrastination.

Yes, highfalutin language makes it sound just grand,
Though I think the world is crazy;
Because, you see, gee whiz,
The dirty truth is,
I really am just lazy!

I love these poems! u guys r so creative!

Procrastination gets a bad rap. What is the big deal about getting things done in a hurry? Is your laundry going to be insulted if it sits around for awhile? I think not. Not once have my groceries complained about being left in the trunk of car.

Why should I be in a big rush to call back my kids' teachers? Believe me, years of experience have taught me they aren't calling to say something complimentary. As for calling other people, chances are if you wait long enough, they'll call you; and if not, you probably didn't need to speak to them.

I've delayed taking chicken out to defrost til Friday morning and been reward by a surprise phone call saying "Please come to us for dinner tonight." I hit the jackpot - no cooking on Friday and a chicken in the freezer for next week.

My philosophy is procrastinate away! In the meantime, I'm doing things I love.
