OP, consider yourself lucky. You've gotten away with murder till now. As long as you're being paid for your time, you're your boss's "property". You don't have the right to be folding your laundry, washing your dishes or whatever else it is that you've been doing during work time. That opportunity is a bonus when it presents itself but not your right as an employee. If the boss wants you to appear on camera, that's 100% her right. She could instead have required you to show up in person to her office. It's rather rude to stay off camera during a meeting, especially if it's one-on-one, but even if it's a group. Nobody likes to talk to a blank screen, and it's hard on a speaker not to be able to gauge the response of the listener. When you're off camera, the speaker has no idea if you're even in the room, let alone listening, let alone understanding. Quit bellyaching, grow up and do your your job.

Not sure why you feel the need to insult OP. She lived with a particular setup for years and is mourning the major impact this change will make on her life. It's very natural. Sounds like she wasn't even aware that cameras on is the norm.
