Is anyone taking Mounjaro while on the Nuva Ring?

I originally read that Mounjaro lowers the effect of birth control and an alternative (backup) method should be used for the first 4 weeks after the initial dose and then every time you change the dose.

I reached out to my prescribing doctor (endo) and he said that I should switch to an IUD.
After doing a lot of online research, it seems the problem is only with oral contraceptives, and not a patch or ring. Has anyone discussed this with their doctor and have a clear answer?

I would really prefer not to get an IUD for various reasons and I cannot get pregnant as I am on other medications that cause terrible birth defects.

TIA.

What you’re saying makes sense because I think the reason it interferes is because it slows gastric emptying.

You should definitely double check this with a doctor.

Sorry- I didn't mean to ignore you! Thanks for responding.
Did you discuss this with a doctor? Or based on reading online? I saw the same thing with my research, yet my doctor still said that it can be a problem with my Nuva Ring. I am wondering if he is just not informed or does he know something that I don't?
I plan on discussing it with my GYN- but I don't have an appointment for a while, and would like to start the Mounjaro . I have it for a while already.
I'm really looking for clarity from someone that discussed it with their doctor.

Thank you!

Answered you privately but for anyone else reading. The patch, nuvaring and IUD are not affected by the shots. BC pills are affected though.
