DD is 5.5 and is still in a toddler bed, she
is on the shorter side. She isn’t complaining about it… but somehow I feel like it’s not ok that she is still in a toddler bed and deserves to be able to stretch out in a normal size bed.
The crib mattress for her bed is going and I can’t imagine she will be able to use it much longer (even though she isn’t complaining about it)..so I know I will have to get a bed soon, But still I am curious to hear from others when they transitioned their child from a toddler bed to a big bed?

I’ve done until 6 if they were small and fit. It’s a comfortable bed I don’t see the rush if they are happy and didn’t outgrow it.

Around 5 we move to big bed unless they are too big for it before then.

I don’t believe in toddler beds. My babies clubs out of their cribs by age 1 and I switch them to a twin bed around age 2.

I do it if I don’t have room for a bed. It is a good solution.
Until age 6

Never. Definitely time for a real bed though it seems.

My son is 5 and still in a toddler bed. I can't decide what I'm doing about the new beds, if I'm getting 2 twins or a bunk bed, so I've been stalling on the purchase.

Same here. My rule is that once they’re big enough to climb into my bed, they get their own

I mean, in the meantime you can get the mattresses

My kids have twin beds but they are on the floor so I have the mattresses on the floor

OP it’s not a dilemma for me because they go from a crib straight to a regular bed. I think toddler beds are a waist of money

Just switched my tall 5 year old a few weeks ago at almost 5.5. I loved the toddler bed as it took up a lot less room and it was $100 for however long we used it.

5 sounds big for a toddler bed. I'd transition to a regular bed.

Lol I love this. You don’t believe in them. I don’t have room for anything else. My 6.5 year old is still in one, what’s my other choice?

Some of you are very privileged with the not believing. Some of us don’t have space or money for a full bed, and it’s a great bed for when needed.

We take one side off the crib around 3 and use as a toddler bed. Then they move to bed around 4-5, depending on when we get it.

I probably win the space award!

I dont understand how toddler bed helps it is just a temporary solution. That toddler will soon be bigger if I go straight to a 33in or twin size mattress whether it is on a single bed, high riser or bunk bed it is a one time purchase and the child will be permanently placed there until they move out of my home.
How would I have saved space or money with purchasing one or more toddler beds.

Toddler beds unless custom made are never bunk beds. All my tots are on a bunk bed under an older child. Much space saves right there

It costs $50 or less and now you own it. You can literally stick it anywhere. It is very helpful. And I also have a crib that converts to a toddler bed by taking off one wall, even more helpful if I don’t have a baby that needs it at the time. It’s an amazing solution for many people, why the need to knock it.

Sorry your taking it personally. Just because some of us "dont believe in Toddler beds doesnt mean its being knocked. You can use as many toddler beds as you want its fine with me.

Btw I have absolutely no where to put a toddler bed. Yes with child one and two I could have but what was the point if I had room for beds. Weve almost always continued using crib. At this point only room for porta crib in our room not kids room. When we move child out they are leaving our room so wouldnt be keepthem in same crib spot there is no room for toddler beds besides in dining room which I wouldnt do . And if I needed someone to sleep there id prefer a nice day bed . So for us bunk beds are the solution.

I'd rather their room look functional and both kids be in toddler beds until I figure it out. I don't want mattresses on the floor.
