my husband wants me to make meat instead of chicken sometimes for Friday night. the only meat I've made successfully ever is brisket/french roast in a sweet and sour sauce, and want to try something different.
any ideas of which cuts to buy and how to prepare? its only DH and me eating it so if it needs to be prepared fresh it should be a small cut or it can be a big one that freezes well and I can save for other weeks

Flanken is easy & delicious.
Put a bunch a sliced onions & garlic in a pan. Drizzles some oil, salt n pepper. Place flanken on onions, drizzle with oil, salt n pepper. Cover well bake on 350 for 2.5-3 hours.

You can do finger meat.
You bake with onions, salt, paprika, lil oil.
Bake 350, about 3/4 hours.
It’s delicious, soft…
It’s small slices, so you can do as much as you want at a time.

I dunno, I just boil it. For a while, until the meat comes off easily with a fork. But not too long, that’s the one place you can mess up. Then you can serve as is or slice and douse in a sweet mustard based sauce. Sorry, I don’t really do recipes. You can Google.

Sometimes when we are bored of chicken I make beef and broccoli, beef lo mein, sesame beef. Its a fun change of pace. I also have a great meatloaf recipe that is serve as individual meatloaves so it looks very nice on a plate.

Short ribs are really good.
If you like lamb, you can make lamb shanks.

I’m basically cooking meat for just one child. I make either boneless flanken (cheap, cook low and slow like ribs) or a small oyster steak. Marinate and sear in grill pan. It’s delicious and inexpensive.

ok so I think I'll try flanken this week, is it better bone-in or boneless? and can I cook potatoes in the same pan or will that not come out good?
