A lot of boys that age want white shirts and black pants.

Thanks for the replies.

If black pants and white shirt, not with a suit jacket....right?
Maybe a good in between is to get him a black cardigan for over the white shirt?

What whiter shirts and black pants do you recommend for this age? would love not to have to spend lots

My sons wanted suits by that age. What's wrong with letting them have a suit? You can always have the option of a sweater/cardigan. They just need to be taught to always hang it up after wearing it.

I was thinking no suit becuase can't machine wash the jacket and he is not going to keep it clean...I would love to make him feel BIG and have what he wants, but not practical. Also not getting 3 suits for 3 day yontif.....

A suit jacket doesn't have to be washed often at all. It's just for going to shul and when you walk into the house it gets hung up right away. You can get a few pants for just one suit jacket.

Some of the Jewish brands make adorable little blazers that don't look like mini-men but make the kids feel grown up. They're probably washable too.
