Ahh! I'm kinda nervous about submitting my days off for the holidays to my supervisor.

It's almost half the business days of the month of October this year!

Thurs- Rosh Hashanah day 1
Fri- Rosh Hashanah day 2
Friday- erev YK (might not be able to take this one off!)
Thurs- Sukkos day 1
Fri- Sukkos day 2
Thurs- Shmini Atzeres
Fri- Simchos Torah

This doesn't even count erev RH or Sukkos or chol hamoed!

Will you be taking off all of those too?

For reference- work for not frum company, healthcare industry

I work for a nonjewish tech company - my coworkers take a lot of time off around their holidays so I don’t feel bad doing the same for mine. If you have the PTO, why not use it?

Is your job the type where coworkers have to change their schedules to cover your shifts while you’re out? That would make it more uncomfortable for sure.

Fed govt employee here. Yes I'm nervous. Using up all my vacation time, plus I'm working religious comp in advance as much as I can. It's 72 hours of time....

No, taking off eruv chag is unreasonable in a professional secular setting. I am really stressed about all this as well.

I know this doesn't help anyone, but I'm reading this and thinking Baruch Hashem that I live in Israel, where Yom tov is a national holiday. Even erev Yom Tov and Chol haMoed are normally half days, and it's very accepted to take off.

Story of my life. 35 years in healthcare. Most of my PTO goes to yomtov. It’s hard. Every year. Tishrei and then Pesach. It’s just a fact of life if you work in the secular world. I don’t have any advice other than to enjoy yomtov and make peace with no actual vacation time.

Same but if it makes you feel any better, Chrstmas and NY fall on Wednesday (mid week) so lots of people are taking 2 full

I work for tech company.

I’m using pto - bH have enough bec didn’t take this summer. And I’ve been there long enough to have enough days.

It is a lot of days in one month…didn’t ask just submitted days off.

Why? If I’m using pto can’t I choose to use it then.
I’m taking 12 scattered pto days in October. I have go workers that go on big vacations and take off.
It’s 1/2 my total time off.
I take it now instead of summer vacations or trips. (Although I’ll try to take a vacation with family chol hamoed if possible bec I’m taking off).

I make sure to put in very early so no one is surprised.

I’m lucky I have so many days - years ago I had 1/2 this and worked chol hamoed but bH I’ve earned more days over the years and my family dynamics have changed a lot also that I feel I need to take off.

You are taking off in October. If you give enough notice, and you don't go over your quota, you should be ok?

My DH is about to submit his days and he's really nervous.
I agree with the poster above that it's the chopiness of the time off that makes it more difficult. DH is going to take off the whole week of succos for the first time ever, because he said he thinks it will actually end up being easier than taking off, going back, taking off (he didn't take off at all this summer, so he has enough days)

I teach at CUNY and get off for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. I’ll have to cancel classes for the other yom tov days. This time of year is always tough.
