And not too city-ish

Ok, So I will add to the million imamothers posting about vacation.

We can not seem to figure out where to go for a week in august iy"H

I'd love to put together a comprehensive list of places in the USA that are
1. Have Kosher restaurants
2. Have beautiful scenery
(3. Not too hot like florida or arizona or texas)

Current ideas:
Catskills - haven't found availability and probably won't
california - would rather save that for a winter trip
lakewood - (we live in the midwest, so the food would be a treat, but is is scenic enough?)

Other ideas we're not sure if there's enough in terms of food.
Please chime in!!!!

Vancouver (I know it's not in the USA)
Boston/Cape Cod
Denver/Rockies
Nevada (too hot?)
Rhode Island

Please please chime in everyone! Thanks!

You can stay in Deal/Long branch. Near the water is beautiful (the wave hotel is there). Plenty of kosher food and 30 mins from Lakewood which has tons and tons of food options.

Or closer to Lakewood and rent a house with a pool

If you don’t want too hot then Vancouver is your best option on the list

Seattle is also nice and has some kosher, but not so much

California is a big state so you could do part in the winter and part in the summer but Southern California has the better food scene

Just saying lakewood is near the jersey shore so if lakewood feels like vacation to you the you can enjoy all the Jewish amenities and drive just a bit for vacation stuff.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions!
Really appreciate it!

(Tichel lady - Vancouver had more food options than Seattle? We did Seattle 2 years ago)

California!!! Live here and there is always more to do so you could come winter Break and not be bored.

LA has tons of food places, lots to do within short drive. You name it, we have it. Beaches, museums, hikes, amusement parks, philharmonic, Hollywood bowl (music),... plus if you are into the Hollywood scene there are those things too but never did them myself (tours, busses, specialty museums, fancy theaters...). Tons of shuls to pick from so it makes it easier to find a place walkable to a shul. Air bnb may be easier than a hotel as most are electronic now.

San Diego doesn't have many places to eat but the Ralph's gas a massive kosher section with takeout. Beaches, museums, sea world, hikes, lego land...

Northern CA has the prettiest nature (redwood forests just to start) but not sure what is still available kosher up there.

Boston - there are a few kosher places in Brookline and at least one in Boston itself.

In Boston: there are a few historic tours, boat tours of the harbor, the aquarium.

Cape Cod is very pretty and not too hot, but I don't know of any kosher restaurants there. There are a lot of nice hikes in the area if you're into that.

Basically - you can have both nice views/nature and kosher food in eastern MA, just not at the same place and time. If you're up to doing a mix of restaurants and eating cold food/ preparing food (eg with your own hot plate at an air bnb) - and if you're into American history, the ocean, and/or both - Boston + Cape Cod could be a very nice trip.

Monsey NY - you can rent a house with a pool, there's the Harriman State Park, walk over the Hudson, 1.5 Hour to Deal NJ, and many more things to do in the area...

I will echo all the great ideas listed above.
My caveat for Boston is that the restaurants close so early in Brookline!
Plan accordingly

We went to San Diego earlier this summer. There's a kosher pizza shop, two fleishig places, a kosher French bakery, kosher Krispy Kreme... plus Ralph's which is a grocery store with lots of kosher products as well as a deli takeout counter, sushi, pizza etc.

Weather was gorgeous in the middle of the summer and the beaches are stunning! Lots of things to do as well.
