I'm in the process of suing my local school district for my child's schooling. We did this before and won 3 years, the 3 years are almost up, so this is basically to renew. Last time around, the district settled and there was no trial. Unfortunately the district has gotten more combative lately and now they take everyone to trial (even though they lose 95% of the time). Anyway, we have been informed of 2 court dates and that dh and I both have to be there, and to expect to be there from 9-5 both days. For obvious reasons (both work and childcare) this will be very difficult. Would it be a real problem if dh doesn't go? Worst case, we can get him a doctor's note (he has a chronic illness) but I'm just wondering if anyone has experience and knows if they really make a big deal that both parents must be there.
