My husband asked me to wear a white tichel Friday night over my shaitel. We are not chassidish. I have no problem doing it for him, I have 2 questions
1- where can I buy one at a decent price?
2- have you ever seen or heard of someone not chassidish wearing a white tichel on their shaitel Friday night?

Well this is one source of nice silk scarves:

A big, yard-square one of a thick shiny silk called charmeuse:

https://www.thaisilks.com/prod.....d=433

A long one of a thin silk, more see-through:

https://www.thaisilks.com/prod.....d=438

Those are both plain white with no pattern.

From a search there for "white scarf," all dimensions. "Burn out" means with pattern. There are many pages, scroll to the bottom.

https://www.thaisilks.com/adva.....scarf

The quality is good.

Sometimes you can pin a tichel with a boutonniere pin. That is a hat pin with a pearl at the end. Search "boutonniere." They are on Amazon and elsewhere.

Try Headlines on 13th Ave, Hat Salon in Williamsburg or Chapellerie above Rockland Kosher in Monsey

Price wise they’re pretty much all in the $100+ range

Is there a reason your husband wants you to wear it? I’m afraid it might look a bit silly for someone not Chassidish to go with it

I would make a recommendation, given that you do not come from chasidish background, the tichel may end up looking weird as it can get messy, I would say you should check in any of the above mentioned stores since we do not know where you reside, and buy a rife, its made to look like a tichel, its almosy impossible to notice that its not, but its very easy to put on and stay put, you can thank me later

I agree you should probably buy a pre- tied one, it makes it so much easier
On a side note, it’s really special of you that you are willing to do this!!

Some gave posted links pre tides. Pre tide would make less of a "chasidush " statement than tichel over sheitle. When I grew up in a non chasidush community many wore a white snood or tichel shabbos and Yom tov.
Although it sounds from your message like hubby specifically wants over your sheitle.
It is special that you would like to please husbands wishes but yes that definitely does make a statement. Even in chasidush community's a white tichel and when it's worn is a statement.
It may be something the two of you should discuss with a rav before deciding on.

if I may make my own assumptions, I believe he wants her to wear it at home, not in public, OP correct me if I am right, we have things I only wear at home because DH likes it,

Will she remove before answering door for a friend? Will her daughter have friends over? Will she sit on her porch fri night? Is succa in public view? Fri night mikva?
It is a special minhag. But she should make sure she's OK with it before starting. Op doesn't say if she has children and how old they are. They will definitely be observing the change , if she wants To take off may be hashkafik discussion

If you’re ready to pay full price for it, check out
https://hatsalonny.com/collections/scarves
They have a selection of scarves and they length/coverage.

For something cheap I would buy on AliExpress.
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mq99a52

I happen to own both and they’re great

It sounds like ‘pre-tied’ was confused with a pre-tied bondana. That is actually also a good idea but there is a white tichel that is pre tied with a headband to keep it in place

A white tichel band is still called a tichel.. the difference is in the length, how much Sheitel it covers

This is exactly what I meant, makes the most sense for someone with no tichel binding experience

Yes, you are right. It’s for when we’re home for now, we will see what will be about always wearing it. I happen to agree with him that it’s very elegant and “Shabbosdig” thanks for all the links

I've seen non chassidic wear one for Kippur and or RH
Kids wise it doesn't have to be more than I like it

Do You still wear it only at home? Do you go onto your front porch with it (like at home, but that neighbors can see, or would you answer the door with it)
Is it a yekkish minhag?
What made you decide to start doing it?
What do you kids say about it?
