Hi, I’m looking for recommendations of movies or shows with a very warm, loving mother figure. I don’t have this in my life and I’m craving just to see it.
If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Warm and Basically Unproblematic Mothers (It was strangely hard for me to think of many of these):
- Harry Potter (Mrs Weasley)
- Prime

Mothers who are very loving but not outwardly warm:
- Woman Talking (Claire Foy’s character)
- Almost Famous

Loving Mother Figures not necessarily mothers:
- The Sound of Music
- The Help
- Anastasia

Tearjerkers (mothers who are warm and loving but not guaranteed to stay living):
- Stepmom
- One True Thing
- This is Us (Rebecca, TV series not a movie)

Movies that won’t give you the mother figure you crave but deal with the mother wound craving so might be cathartic (or triggering, you be the judge):
- AI
- The Phantom Thread
- Toast

(You didn’t ask for this but) Songs:
Ablaze - Alanis Morissette
This is to Mother You - Sinéad O'Connor

Edited to Add:

Redemptive Mother-Daughter Arc Movie (mother doesn’t start off warm and loving but becomes that way)

Everything, Everywhere, All at Once

Me too. My theory for this is that the parent-child relationship and perhaps particularly the mother bond is at the heart of all stable human connection.

However, movies need instability in order for there to be a story and resolution. So that’s why there are so few movies with strong and loving mother-child relationships where the bond stays in tact and neither party dies.

I think the sound of music is perfect. She’s not the mother but becomes their step mother. And the way she cares for them is really special.

Rebecca isn't completely unproblematic. Remember when she slaps Kate in the face? Plus how she deals with her weight as a child (and even as an adult... the comments...)

No, I didn’t remember that. But she wasn’t in my unproblematic list! (Hiding an important fact from one of her children was also very problematic - I’m being vague to avoid spoilers).

The thing is that show was all about painful family problems and their meaningful, tear-inducing resolutions.
